J.S. Bach in the Spotlight Mar 06 by Bill Dodd in Dodd's DSD Discoveries, NativeDSD SALE, News

This year is “Beethoven’s 250th” as most of you will know. While Beethoven deserves all the attention he is getting this year, NativeDSD Music is putting other composers in Spotlight each month!

Johann Sebastian Bach (1585-1760) was an accomplished musician as well as a composer of towering importance.  His music is incredibly flexible, lending itself to various interpretations in widely differing styles.  His giant choral works work just as well with one singer per part as they do with massed choirs.  His keyboard works seem to be equally magical on harpsichord, piano, or organ — or even accordion for that matter. His works have amazed listeners in Jazz and other “non-classical” styles.  NativeDSD is rich with fine recordings of Bach’s works.  I haven’t found one that disappointed me.

Here is a listing of some that I have found especially rewarding, including three different versions of the Suites for Cello: the original, and versions with solo violin and solo guitar.  There are two St. Matthew Passions, each with differing approaches, and each outstanding.  I hope you’ll think of these as a starting point for exploration.

Senior NativeDSD Review Bill Dodd believes these are the most wonderful Albums available from Bach at the NativeDSD Music Store to date.

These sixteen DSD Albums listed below are on Sale at 15% Off from now until March 28th, 2020.

Along with finding an exciting new viewpoint of a favorite work, I really love discovering music and composers I haven’t heard before, or haven’t been able to get close to in the past.”
